Why Your Location May Be Inaccurate

GPS error margin refers to the level of inaccuracy in determining a precise location. Factors such as weather, satellite positioning, obstacles (buildings, trees), and clock errors can affect accuracy. This inaccuracy typically ranges from a few meters to over 10 meters, depending on the device and environment. As a result, GPS data is often provided with an accuracy estimate.

Why GPS Sometimes Displays the Wrong Address

When Tracki receives GPS coordinates, it pinpoints a location using latitude and longitude, not an exact address. A separate tool converts these coordinates into a street address. Since GPS accuracy can vary within 75 feet, the app may sometimes display a nearby address, like a neighbor’s house. In most cases, the map location is more accurate than the listed address.
